Pelvic Health Physiotherapy Explained | GW Pelvic Health Dublin

Recently, we hosted our first introductory evening at GW Pelvic Health, welcoming local GPs, healthcare professionals, and those working in related fields into the clinic to learn more about Pelvic Health Physiotherapy and the services we provide.

One of the biggest challenges in Pelvic Health is that it can often be difficult to explain in one sentence exactly what we do - and for many Men, Women and children , symptoms like bladder and bowel dysfunction, pelvic pain, sexual dysfunction, antenatal and  postnatal care often normalised or at the bottom of the priority list or left untreated for far too long.

This evening was an opportunity to have open conversations about Pelvic Health, referral pathways, collaborative care within the Multidisaplinary team and how specialist physiotherapy can support women, men, and children across a wide range of conditions.

Pelvic Health physiotherapy is not just about pregnancy or postnatal care - it also includes bladder and bowel dysfunction, pelvic floor rehabilitation, cancer rehabilitation, sexual health, persistent pelvic pain, and complex pelvic floor conditions for both women, men and children.

Creating better awareness around these services is so important, both for patients and for the healthcare professionals supporting them.

For anyone who couldn’t attend, I’ve included the full talk below.

I hope it helps give a clearer understanding of what Pelvic Health Physiotherapy is, and how it can make a real difference to quality of life.
